The draw was in process alongside the frivolities of BRI “The Teeths” Noisy supporters club putting an appearance in to hopefully cheer home the peoples champion…..
Brian “The Teeth” hehehehehehe
Placards were waved 😉
In goes Dennys hand……….
A poor draw maybe to make the Individual Trophy an even match……..?

Don’t be silly end peg 16, For “DISNEY DENNY”
it was ALWAYS gonna be hard for Bri, as DISNEY Denny sprinted off to home from home!
Anyway it was bitterly cold and rain even but put an appearance in but was not forecasted so it was making the most of the conditions on the day.
Way way out in front on the match with 55lb 7 was our resident Mick “No Barrow” who chucked a bomb all over his peg loose feeding his glasses, standing on his hook box, and poking his eye almost out with his disgorger……
His boilie looked like it originated from Hiroshima being bright Orange but boy did it do the trick after carp after carp hit the onion sack.
A thoroughly deserving winner who always has a smile on his face and takes his fair share of banter by taking it and giving it out “PULLL IT HARDEEEER” – WELL DONE!!!
In 2nd place was Disney Denny or “Denny “The Chimp” who fished a peg hes fished before but he did have to slide his float up an inch as it was up a tad.
Although soundly beaten by “No Barrow” he fished the pole and the tip catching most on the pole and was way clear of 3rd place with 38lb odd to win both the individual knock out, plus take the overall title to the wire. Well Done! 😉
In 3rd place and that tip still keeps going round is “HMP” Holloway who caught 14lb 14ozs on cubed meat tight across when no one else could get a rap tight over… Getting Consistent!
The last frame was one of our guests who had 8lb 8 on the pole I think which was 4 x carp from peg 1 which just edged Poncey Paul out the main frame into 5th
“you need how many top kits?” “Poncey” Paul was happy to Chill on the bank and his section win only just inched out a few others on 8lb odd including the other section winner “Worms” Ivison I think it was.
My Summary
I drew peg 12 and to be honest I was quite happy with my draw! It’s an area I had drew before on an Open match on Match Lake peg 13 and I had a grueller and struggled like billyo with just 17lb, but then went back fished it differently two weeks later with Adroit and had high 60-70Lb odd to win match so I was prepared to try a few things if needed……
I was sandwiched between Alf “Norgrove” peg 11 and Gavin on peg 13 and Gavin had 3 x small carp on the tip in first hour and half and then not a touch, and Alf had just 1 x carp all day for 4lb.
So JUST how did my day go……….
I BLANKED!
I tried a small method over and never had a bite, not a flicker! Tried the pole feeding micros sparingly with expander it never looked like going under…… used another line with differing feed/bait no bites went down to 0.11 and 22 and single maggot no bites not even a blade
Margins fed one line and tried it several times never looked like moving
Thought a few fish may be mid water instead? as Gavin had stopped getting any indications at all now but as he had 3 carp earlier I felt they may have come off bottom so into me rodbag and I tried a waggler dotted down mid water but alas not a flicker….
So I fed a Desperation line it came up to standard it was exactly that “Absolutely Desperate”
Overall I worked harder for a blank than I do to catch 50-60lb of fish – mad aint it J
Conclusion with Hindsight
I am critical of myself as I always analyse after the match what I done right or where I’ve gone wrong, as it’s the only way you improve and hindsight is a wonderful vision to have.
In summary I think the fish were basically not/hardly feeding and just chucking all around the peg with a bomb or small feeder would have been far better than pole/float tactics.
The Pub
Now those of you that don’t know when we have Skeg Vegas Festival if you Blank you have a BINDI applied on forehead for the night! (Don’t we “Hamper” John) J
So at a pace slighter quicker than Usain Bolt in came Mick
“No Barrow” like a flash of light with a Flouro Orange brush in hand….. So with his track record and not wanting to lose an eye I had BINDI applied and looked to see if I had it down me coat as well etc hehehehehe
Alan was pleased with his 2 x blind carp!
