T
he 2nd match started off with yet another bonus as our esteemed Treasurer Robin “Worms” Ivison has an imminent 65th Birthday so he treated all Adroit AC members to a cracking brekkie….
We all wish you good luck on your “bike rides” and more days out fishing LOL and we hope you enjoy your retirement 😉
Match Section
A full house and 24 members in the match plus “Storming Norman” as per usual running the trout ragged was order of the day (he finished with 5 to 2 1/2lbs)
With such a good turnout any room was always going to be a bonus and “Semi Pro Daz” produced a sterling performance from Peg 17 in corner to Waltz the match with a good few carp on the tip before plundering the left margin the last 4 hours for 95lb 7ozs.
Not only was this a match win but it’s the highest match weight we had on there in our Adroit AC matches so well done – Top bombing!
IN 2nd place was “Lurpak” Neil Butterworth who drew peg 16 opposite Semi Pro Daz and would have ran him a lot closer but for losing 12 carp. Neil returned a good weight on the day of 53lb 5ozs with some on the tip chucked to the dead reeds to right and then some carp to right down margins.
3rd place was “End Peg” Roy Ravenhill who must be wondering how on earth he earned his moniker? as he draws end pegs recently about as much as Trump attends How to Win Friends and Influence People rallies….
Roy finished strong with a good run down the margins on pole to plunder 46lb 4ozs of carp and despite not fishing as much as he used to can still do the business.
The 4th and last frame was myself with 44lb 4ozs which surprised me! as I’d watched peg 1s Ben “The Students” Taylors pole going in and out all day after an hour and I really thought id been well and truly smashed by him.
I caught mainly on the tip to the island last 2 1/2 hours and was happy enough from my drawn area.
The 1st section was won by Ben Taylor on peg 1 who caught a raft of fish going like the proverbial “bees wings” for 35lb 5ozs but they were a lot lot smaller stockie carp (possibly newer fish)
The 2nd section was won by Mick “Rumbold” Edwards on peg 19 yet again being consistent and in the money with 32lb 2ozs. (no idea how he caught his fish)
Overall it was a well run match promptly weighed by the 3 x highest drawn anglers in and in all fairness although a bit patchy it fished ok on the day for the time of season.
Banter & Funny Occurrences
It was a quiet match with a bit of shouting about the pairs at the start, but 2-3 hours in and I established our newest member Eddie “Stobart” has a forte with wildlife!!
A couple of errant casts and next minute world war 3 has broken out on the lake and a geese has took umbrage to his waggler and suffice to say the winner was not Stobarts kit…
He was last seen in Fosters buying a few more geese feed “wags” with various tops 😊
Next where do I start I didn’t mind drawing the far side but being opposite Gaz the Spod we all know requires life insurance top ups….
This time I thought I’m safe he’s nowhere near me but 3.5 hours in and everyone knows what the Welsh are like after we trounced em in the Rugby they don’t arf hold grudges hehehehe.
In what seems like slo mo “Taff” Tony Bearcroft has launched what appeared to be an
“Exocet” feeder which cleared the height of the tree on island in front of me and the weight of it pulled the branch down and it gently kissed the feeder line – I nearly wet me sen! Cue the Welsh shout “oops tidy mind”
They say red squirrels are rare! Grey will be en all
Not to be outdone and no way was a trip to fosters on Tonys radar……….

Back to Fisherwick for him Sunday to retrieve what’s rightly his 😊
Now where is it? Higher Higher Higher!
Spare a thought for good old Mick “No Barrow” he was shaking his head at end of the match but alas he still had his mind on other things….
he had lost his “Expert Gurus” Advice
Most people need to spend a penny during a match, but just lately Mick was seen nibbling on this young filly’s ear – who says the camera never lies? LOL!
My Match Good or Bad Result
For once I was pretty happy overall on what was gained weight wise from my peg, I fished maggot at start and 6mm pellet at the end and I did lose 2-3 fish one of which was deffo foul hooked!
I couldn’t make the pole work and others were struggling on this and if Denny cant make pole work and get bites there ain’t masses of fish around.
The Pellet waggler was drawing off a true line so I made a decision to fish pellet method feeder to furthest part away from me. Last few hours more fish came
So Roy was within range, but he may also have lost fish as well?
The grudge matches has an extra member now as well as Denny “The Chimp” and “Saddle Sore” Sadler, Mick “No Barrow” wants to relieve me of a few pound…….Yes
I know I may be 2-3Lbs over my ideal weight, or 3-4 feet under my ideal height depending on which way you look at it 😊
The Big Fella
PS NOBODY MUST MENTION DENNY “THE CHIMP” WAS CHIP SHOPPED SATURDAY EITHER!! Frying times are 10.30am-3.30pm 😊
