Tunnel Barn Farm – New Pool – 03-12-17

Match Section

Another decent turnout for December with 18 hardy souls expectant at the draw on a relatively mild day, to what it had been earlier in the week.

The complex had been fishing very hard all over even for the seasoned Open anglers. However, as there was a new top of the range Audi Quattro up for grabs for our little old clubs winner our resident OVER PRACTICER “Hamper” John decided he needed to hone his skills, get an edge, and fish a few days before on Friday 1st December 😉 hehehehe

The expletives were numerous from his buddy and Mick No barrow swore for 10 minutes and never said the same word twice, followed by the immortal line we only fishing for a *$%£*%$ Curry for %$&*$ sake……..

Bindi watch was a concern to many, and an early settler of nerves was required

In 1st place was myself just out in front from peg 24 with 18lbs dead consisting of 4 x decent carp dobbing bread far bank at 16mtrs plus 3 x silvers down track

In 2nd place was the OVER PRACTICING PENSIONER Hamper John Hodson on peg 4 with 14lb 2ozs of F1s and some silvers from ¾ way across on maggot mainly to show that practice does help

Just behind in 3rd place was the consistent F1 angler Denny the Chimp on peg 1 who had so many features/islands surrounding in front of him it was like the Maldives…. Maggot again was the prominent bait for his F1s to throw 12-14 ½ on the weigh sling.

4th place and another regular framer this year was Mark “Catmeat” Causer from towards other end of the lake on peg 33 with 12lb 1ozs

5th place but (4th by default) was the other over practicer Mick “No Barrow” on peg 35 who weighed in 9lb 13ozs for another white envelope. These anglers permanently subsidised by the state are getting very hard to beat with the time they can put into their fishing 😉

The 1st section was won by Mick “The Fish” Horton from peg 17 with 7lb 7ozs (2 x decent carp) with the 2nd section being won by Gavin “The Shotgun” Young with 8lb 11ozs from peg 41 who are both getting regular drags nowadays!!

Banter & Funny Occurrences

Well, the Bindi count come the end of the match was sat at just 2 x anglers!!! which is pretty good to what it could have been.

Alan prior to wrapping his new box up hehehe

“Taff” Tony has definitely not been in the crosshairs recently of a Bindi, however, the other one Gaz “The Spod” Sadler has a shiny new box bought by his BRO for his 60th with a definite HEX on it……

However, as its almost Christmas your friendly Santa decided to bring Xmas cheer and the Bindi painting would be excused for 1 x match only….

Ho Ho Ho!

Tunnel Barn Farm has recently had a profits surge due to being able to restock the shops feeders and floats and resell them twice once they have been around the New Pool to peg 13 to retrieve and undress the adorned tree

My Match Good or Bad Result

I’ve had a number of early baths recently well before the end of the match, so to just be STILL there at the end was the primary target.

Roy “End Peg” Ravenhill was out in front on the Individual Club Trophy with a 6point cushion due to winning 3 x club matches early on in the season so a high result and a BIG portion of luck was order of the day to have any chance

I started on maggot down the track but also fed a separate micro pellet line fed tentatively but cut short I was going nowhere with only a few silvers. Mid-match I saw a decent fish turn twice 20 mins apart but each time it was on far bank line halfway between myself on peg 24 and Worms on 27 (no bait been fed)

With this, I decided it was large bait dobbing bread across or 2-3 mags looking for the decent F1s stamp. I had just 5 x bites in total fishing long but the bonus was the 4 landed were carp plus I lost an F1 so an incredibly lucky match win.

A clean sweep on the grudge silly quids from Denny/Saddle Sore/No Barrow!

Not only that but when I returned back to the draw Roy had finished 9th and I had literally nicked it overall by 2 points and got out of jail at the death. Sorry Roy, I could so easily have bombed out!

Other Info:

The match report has been enjoyable feature writing it for the last 3 seasons for the club with good feedback from members, however, I’ve told Alan this would be the last report I can do personally – as I’m busy with other stuff.
