Tunnel Barn 08-03-2020 The Rise of Aqua-Man

Good turnout of 17 anglers for the 1st match of the 2020 season, weather was chilly and there had been a lot of rain leading up to the match so expectations wasn’t high. Top pool at Tunnel is quite interesting with sections of the lake offering different aspects and swims, would be an interesting lake for the summer maybe although Tunnel Barn is proving quite expensive for our 20 member club if we want lake exclusivity.

Everyone had prepared well for this match, not in fishing terms but cleanly shaven, hair combed and best bib and tucker because our new “Club Photographer” was in da house!! Unfortunately he forgot to bring it or as was found out later didn’t want to get it dirty so its back to the phone camera for our resident “David Bailey”

The match started with nobody showing any real activity and this was the case for the first hour or so……..but then, Team Dennahay deployed their new tactic, and Denny Jnr pressed the ejector button on Denny Snr’s (“Aqua Man”) seat box causing him to go snorkeling in the margin checking for signs of fish. After dragging him (note still had his fag in his gob) he was given dry clothes and warmed up before returning to his peg, we took at least 3 carp out of his pockets prior to his return. But seriously if you do slip in and are struggling give anyone a shout, wellies are like lead blocks when they are full of water and the cold doesn’t take long to bite, we are club of mates and everybody is there to help.

4th Place was taken by Poncey off peg 15 with 14.80 and section prizes went to Lurpack and Taff

So a mixed start to the season but big thanks to Taff, Worms, Denny, Matt, Hamper and Poncey for your work on the day which makes it more enjoyable for all.
